Recently watched a jap movie, Shinobi.

Shinobi centers on the drama resulting from the war between two ninja clans in the early part of the Tokugawa era. In the film, Nakama Yukie portrays Oboro, the granddaughter of Ogen,the respected Iga clan matriarch, while Odagiri Jo plays Gennosuke, the son of Danjo Koga (Minoru Terada), the powerful Koga clan leader. While living deep within the mountains, the two ninja clans have honed their skills to superhuman levels.
Unfortunately, the clans do not get along and are forbidden by imperial decree from sharing their techniques with each other. Viewing the two ninja clans as a threat to his scheme for total domination, the nefarious Nankobo Tenkai (Ishibashi Renji) plots to intensify the rivalry between the two clans. Nakobo creates a contest in which the clans are forced to choose five of their best warriors to participate. The respective team leaders for each clan are Oboro and Gennosuke. Who are deeply in love, they are in fact secretly married.
Initially, being peaceful and knowing the preciousness of life, Gennosuke and Oboro tried to prevent this meaningless and brutal fight by questioning the shogunate's motives. After the deaths of all their comrades during several fights, however, they gradually accepted their inevitable fate. To fight.
Comments: A beautiful yet saddening movie. Castings were superb. Nakama Yukie and Joe Odagiri were perfect for their roles. Good job by Erika too.
The fighting scenes had appropriate amount of CG and real fighting scenes to allow the viewer to be engage in the show. Amazing landscapes that will draw your breath away is a plus.

LOveee Gokusen. One of the few shows that tug your heartstrings. No romance but it is entertaining to watch how the teacher-student relationship progress as the show continues on. Heartwarming and an mausing dorama to watch. She is clumsy and adorable. No wonder her students love her. But do not be mistaken by her apperance cause she is a top rate fighter. Her weird outbursts in each episode will make u laugh. But one speech from her will cause u your tears. Sighs-
i prefer Gokusen 1 than Gokusen 2 though. I believe that the casting for 1 is better. Matsumoto jun is so cool and levelheaded. his acting is marvellous here!!!
so different from his character in Hana Yori Dango. Plus. he looks better here.

Nakama Yukie is one of those few who can act as a comedic or serious role when required. Plus she is really beautiful and is a really versatile actress. Apparently most of her shows got pretty good rating and Gokusen was one of the highest rating shows in Japan. Oh, she hosted the 57th Kouhaku and was the team leader for the reds in the 56th Kouhaku. :)
She is currently one of the top most popular celeb in japen. Congrats!
